Volkswagen is ahead of Tesla in Norway

Norway remains a leader in the transition to electric vehicles. In February, 94.7% of all new cars in the country were electric. And one German manufacturer in particular stood out - Volkswagen, which overtook Tesla in sales.
Here's What We Know
According to the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV), of the 8,949 new cars registered in February, 8,477 had an electric powertrain. In comparison, petrol models only took up 0.4% of the market. Norwegians are actively choosing compact and affordable electric cars, as cars costing up to NOK 500,000 (about €42,830) are exempt from VAT.
Volkswagen has been the main beneficiary of this trend. In February, the brand's sales rose by an impressive 224.1 per cent, making it the leader among electric cars in the country. Tesla's sales, meanwhile, fell 64.4% year-on-year to February 2024. Only 965 cars were sold, though the Model Y is still the second most popular.
